Nerinx At the Cappies 2010 |
|
| The Cappies is a national organization funded locally by Fox Associates and the St. Louis Post Dispatch to develop excellence in reviewing skills for high school students. High school critic teams see and review 5 shows a season and then are asked to vote for winners in all aspects of theatre production. This year Nerinx Hall received 17 nominations for awards and competed with 23 area high schools for top awards in a variety of categories. Both of our shows: WEST SIDE STORY and ALMOST, MAINE received special recognition. WEST SIDE STORY Amanda Jerry,(Maria) sophomore received Best Female Vocalist in a musical; Alex Prakken (Tony)received Best Male Vocalist. Our crew, Liz Tuxbury, Laura Steenburge, Allie Gieseler, and Sam Yahl won best crew. ALMOST,MAINE Caroline Amos, junior, won best featured actress in a play for her role in Almost, Maine, and Peter Leach won best actor for his role in Almost, Maine. Nerinx Hall theatre students, Maggie Ryan, Jenni Ryan, Susan Pennington and Mike Heinicke accompanied the students to the gala . We are so proud of their success. The awardees received special 'Star" trophies and enjoyed an evening of celebrating St. Louis High School Theatre. |

Nerinx A Regular in Shakespeare Competition |

| Caroline Amos, Class of 2011, performed so outstandingly in the 2010 national Shakespeare competition that she took second place among the 58 contestants. She won a thousand-dollar award. Because she won the regional competition, her expenses to New York were paid. Every year Nerinx encourages its students to enter this competition. Caroline is Nerinx's fourth regional winner and the first to be ranked so high at the national level. Prior winners are Katie Noetzel (2008), Liz Schranck(2007) and Maggie McKenna (2004) . |

| The Nerinx Hall High School production of West Side Story was selected by the Fox Foundation for two of its pieces to for performance on the stage of the Fabulous Fox. Twenty-one Nerinx dancers and singers performed "America" and "I Have A Love" from West Side Story on February 11, 2010. | |

Nerinx Attends State Thespians Conference in January |

| Every January thespians come together from all over the state of Missouri for workshops, productions, and meetings in order to promote quality theater. | |
| January 2010 Conference Held in St.Louis | |
| NERINX THEATRE GOES TO STATE Nerinx cast and crew of WEST SIDE STORY were so excited and proud to have been selected to perform at the Missouri State Conference on Jan 7th. The performance was at THE TOUHILL in the Anheuser Busch Theatre. The performance received applause from 1600 thespians from all over the state of Missouri. Mrs Maggie Ryan, Mr. Ross Bell, and Zoe Vonderhaar congratulated the cast and crew and proudly shared that this performance was really outstanding. The standing ovation confirmed the reaction of the enthusiastic audience. NERINX HALL Theatre and Music program was celebrated as one of the finest in Missouri. The cast of 50 and crew of 35 worked extra days over Christmas break to re-mount the show. West Side Story was originally performed on the Heagney stage at Nerinx in November. After adjudication over several performances, West Side Story was selected to go to STATE. All were so thrilled to have this special opportunity . |

| January 2009 Conference Held in St.Louis | |
| NERINX HALL THEATRE DEPARTMENT is so proud to announce that 4 Nerinx girls performed in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM the ALL STATE SHOW at the TOUHILL for Missouri State Thespians. Thiry students from all over Missouri worked together under the direction of Webster University's Professor BRUCE LONGWORTH to create this wonderful production. NERINX GIRLS Christina Ramirez, Samantha Auch, Grace Hinson, and Abby Dryden played leading roles in the production. The students now await the judges decision to see if they will be invited to perform the show at the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE this summer. We are so thrilled with their success and look forward to making the plans to take it to the international conference in Lincoln Nebraska this summer. In addition to the all state show, Nerinx Students participated in a full schedule of workshops by guest artists, one act plays and main stage plays. Ms. Jenni Ryan ad Mr. Ross Bell, accompanied by Duane Bridges gave Musical Theatre and acting workshops, and Mike Heinicke, and Susan Pennington also presented workshops in tech theatre, playwriting, Maggie Ryan served again as the Missouri State Thespian Board Workshop coordinator. The conference had 1600 in attendance and there were guest artists from across the nation presenting workshops in acting, film, tech, playwriting, stagemovement and stage combat, commedia dell arte, and all aspects of theatre production. In addition, Christina Ramirez won a thespian talent scholarship for $1000 to be applied to college of her choice. Congrats to Christina and NERINX HALL THESPIAN TROUPE 747! |
