Guides for Copyright Compliance

Copyright Symbol The power to make copies does not make copying legal. Even though teachers and students do have extended privileges beyond what those in business can do, they may not cross specific boundaries. Here are some websites with guidelines to help keep projects and presentations within legal allowance:

The most fun to read is an online comic book Bound by Law? Trapped In A Struggle She Didn't Understand from the Duke University Law School's Center for the Study of the Public Domain.
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has prepared an excellent guide, "Copyright Applies To Everyone," which can be downloaded and kept on your hard drive for easy reference. In clear detail, almost every kind of material is listed with allowable circumstances for copying.

"Bag Of Books" Campaign
May 17 - May 26, 2010

Students returning to Nerinx next year may check out a bagful of books for their reading enjoyment. This includes nonfiction as well as fiction.

Want to get crafty? Study the night sky? Identify wildlife? Learn to knit? Read about baseball history? This is your big opportunity to have the books you did not have a chance to read during the school year

The books will not be due back until September 3, so that you can lug in your textbooks and set up your locker before you need to bring these books back to the library. We even give you a shopping back to carry your summer reading!

JOIN YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY'S SUMMER READING CLUB
and earn rewards such as gifts and invitations to exclusive events.
