Art students with Tom Hunt created the centerpiece for the Earth Day celebration April 2008. Visitors to the celebration put their signatures on the sign, which read "I VOTE GREEN." In September the Missouri Votes Conservation group presented Nerinx with the Green Leader Award in appreciation for leadership in promoting sound conservation policy and environmental legislation.
