| On April 6 the Select Women's Chorus performed "Loretto Poets Suite" by Duane Bridges, who is also on the faculty at Webster University. The performance was for the Webster University Faculty concert. Our Singers Get California Gold |
|
| The Select Women's Chorus won a "gold" rating at the Heritage Festival in Anaheim, California and placed 2nd overall in the Women's Chorus category. We were given the opportunity at Mr. Bell's request to be rated among 2A schools (Nerinx is rated 1A) and Nerinx received higher scores than schools more than twice its size! In addition, Select is invited to compete in the "Festival of Gold" next spring in either New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago as it was in the top ten percent of ensembles competing. The students were perfect ambassadors of the Nerinx Community and were consistently praised for their poise and grace from the adjudicators, festival leaders, and tour guides. Nerinx is extremely proud of these remarkable musicians. |

| Nerinx Hall senior Molly Conroy was one of 10 recipients of the first annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Model of Justice Awards presented to St. Louis area high school students by the St. Charles Lwanga Center. She received the award from Archbishop Raymond Burke at a ceremony after the annual Martin Luther King Memorial Mass on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. She was nominated for her commitment to social justice and community service. She has been active in the Nerinx Peace and Justice club, LIFE (Living in Faith Experience) and Model UN. She is serving as vice-president of Peace & Justice this year. She has participated for two years in the School of the Americas protest and performed her senior community service at the Center for Survivors of Torture and Trauma. She will be going to El Salvador on a service trip during Spring Break 2008. She organized a forum on environmental issues for the entire senior class and is a lead organizer for a new, interscholastic environmental student group involving several St. Louis area girls schools. You're an inspiration to us all, Molly! |
