Population

   Currently there are 623 girls enrolled. Loss rate is minimal, 93% of the girls who enter as freshmen graduate from Nerinx Hall.

The current minority enrollment numbers 59 students.

   Nerinx's location close to Interstate 44 and its proximity to public transportation makes it accessible to girls from throughout the region. Students come from all over the metropolitan St. Louis area, as far east as Collinsville IL, as far west as St. Peter's MO, as far south as Hillsboro MO and as far north as Bridgeton MO. 95% of the students are Roman Catholic. 8.6% of the enrolled are students of color. Nerinx celebrates the growing diversity of cultures. Within its student body are 14 who identify themselves as African Americans, 14 Hispanics, 9 Asians, 14 biracial, and 2 "other". In addition to these girls who are enrolled for the four-year program, foreign exchange students are frequently enrolled for a semester's work.

Involvement

   There are 20 clubs and 14 sports teams for the girls to join. 80% of the Nerinx girls are members of at least one club and 66% play on a Nerinx sports team. 40% of the girls are involved with Drama and /or the Music program. The spiritual dedication of the students manifests itself in their voluntary participation in conducting liturgies and in their service work to community agencies through the Outreach Club. For each Mass, 25 - 50 girls help in the planning and service roles. Outreach continues to be the largest club as its members work regularly in soup kitchens, nurseries, day care centers, Habitat for Humanity, and other agencies reaching out to those in need. These girls use their evenings and weekends to promote justice through their voluntary efforts.

Nerinx Student Perfect on Latin Test



Michelle Currie, Class of 2008, made a perfect score on the National Latin Exam for the third year in a row. A letter from the NLE Committee stated that only 12 of over 135,000 students who took the exam this year attained this distinction. The NLE was given through the USA and Canada, England, Poland, Switzerland, Italy, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Congratulations, Michelle!
        
  

Nerinx and National German Test



Congratulations to Margaret Loehnig for achieving a 99% on the Level III National German test. Congratulations to Libby Apprill for achieving a 97% on the Level IV National German test! These scores also qualify Margaret and Libby to apply for an all-expenses paid four-week study trip to German this summer. Wir sagen "Gratuliere Margaret und Libby!"
        
  

Artists Featured at St. Louis Artist Guild



14 art students were accepted into the "Young Artists Showcase," which is a very competitve, juried show open to students, ages 15 to 19 and living within 100 miles of St. Louis. There are many, many entries....so it is quite an honor to have work accepted into the show. Senior Erin Valenta received an award for her drawing. Congratulations to:

Nerinx Musicians in Spotlight



Five students participated in the District Solo & Ensemble adjudication in March:
Freshmen Lexi Lessaris and Emily Wich for voice
Sophomore Mehereen Butt on the cello
Junior Josie Corley on the oboe
and Junior Michelle Currie on the flute. Michelle received a "1" (superior) rating that qualified her for the State Festival in April, where she again received the superior rating.
The Select Women's Chorus received a "2" (excellent) rating at the State Choral Festival while receiving "1" ratings from two of the judges.

Nerinx at State Thespian Conference



Joining 1700 students from across Missouri, more Nerinx students were able to attend this year because it was held here in St. Louis at UMSL. This year once again the Nerinx Troop received Troop Honors. Senior Ashley Colon was awarded a college scholarship funded by the Thespian organization. More...
        
  

Artwork for 100 Neediest Cases



Drawings by Nerinx girls were recognized by the "100 Neediest Cases" effort. Emily Autrey's piece placed in the top ten among submissions from across the metropolitan area. The art of Julie Corbet-Ronecker, Jessica Fry, Erin Coyne and Lona Moody placed in the top 25. A piece by Molly Lees placed in the top 40. Their artwork to appeared in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch during November and December.
        
  

National Honor Society



Seventy-six seniors are members of the National Honor Society.
        
  

National Merit Scholars 2006-2007

        
   Senior Libby Apprill scored in the top half of 1% of all the students across the nation who took the PSAT in October 2005. This has earned her the designation as a National Merit Semi-Finalist and puts her in contention to be designated a Finalist.
        
   Nerinx's National Merit Commended Scholars are Elizabeth Finder, Emily Ghazarian, Ali Maltzman, Jeanne Savage and Rachel Siegel. They scored in the top 5% of students nationwide.
        
  

Nerinx Senior Honored for Volunteerism

   Senior Lucy Herleth was honored recently by the Big Brothers / Big Sisters organization for the quality and faithfulness of her volunteer work on behalf of the organization. Together with the recognition, Lucy received a $1000 scholarship.
Nerinx is very proud of Lucy and all its many students that give so much to the community through their spirit of volunteerism.

Admission Process

   Sr. Barbara welcomes freshmen
   Nerinx welcomed 156 young women in the Class of 2011.

Eighth grade students may make an appointment to visit for a full school day during the weeks from the middle of September to the middle of November. Seventh grade students interested in visiting Nerinx for a full school day may do so during the month of April by calling in March. (FYI: Because of the number of girls wanting to shadow, if a student comes in the spring, she will not be able to repeat her visit in the fall.) To schedule an appointment

Interested families should plan to visit Nerinx during the annual Archdiocesan High School Open House on the first Sunday in November from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Applications to Nerinx Hall are submitted in mid-November each year. Applications may be obtained from Catholic grade school principals, parish P.S.R. directors, or by calling Nerinx Hall. All applicants and their parents are interviewed by faculty during December and January. Selection is based upon grade school report cards, standardized testing, and the interview.

During February the letters of acceptance are mailed in accordance with the policies of the Archdiocesan Education Office .
