Athletics for All

Intramural Opportunities

Sports tournaments are planned for fun and sometimes for raising funds to support service work undertaken by Nerinx girls. Classes compete against each other in field day activities on Founder's Day in April. National Girls and Women's Sports Day inspires a week-long sports quiz competition among homerooms during the first week of February.

Sports Nutrition and Fitness

Students at Nerinx Hall participate in fitness activities sponsored by the Win With Wellness team and the Fitness Clubs. An example of activities organized by these students for their classmates is the before-school morning walks through the neighborhood. All Nerinx athletes attend a sports nutrition workshop in conjunction with the Sports Medicine Clinic contracted to serve them.

Special Recognition of Nerinx Athletic Director

Inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame
January 2010

in her own words:
"This past weekend my College Field Hockey team from 1979 was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. I played for Southwest Missouri State from 1978-1981. In 1979 we had the opportunity to play in the National Tournament in Princeton New Jersey -it was a time in my life that I will never forget. We received word in November that we were going to be inducted in January. The team had a great record - we were 28-2-1 - we had 23 shutouts and only gave up 10 goals all season. This past Sunday in Springfield Missouri the celebration began at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame where all the inductee's were introduced and then the dinner took place in the evening. ...... My hope is that some of the Nerinx Athletes get a chance to experience the thrill of winning a National Tournament and being honored for it later in life."

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association recognized Nancy Milward
as the 2004 Dita / NFHCA West Region Coach of the Year
at an Awards Luncheon in Providence, Rhode Island.
The National Federation Coaches Association, 31,000 strong, selected Nancy Milward as Section 5 Coach of the Year in Field Hockey 1999-2000. She was selected from all the state winners in this section of the country.
In recognition of her service and contributions to young women and athletics, the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport awarded Mil the 2000NAGWS Pathfinder Award representing the state of Missouri.

National Recognition for Nerinx Athletic Program

The overall quality of the Nerinx Hall Athletics Program was recognized by the 1998 Ocean Spray Crave-To-Be-Your-Best competition for programs involving young women in sports. Nerinx Hall was selected as the national runner-up.
